Sanrio is thrilled to announce that the 2025 Sanrio character ranking, a character popularity voting event celebrating its 40th anniversary, is now open!

The Sanrio character ranking is a popular annual event in which characters selected from over 450 Sanrio characters are nominated, and their rankings are determined by fan voting. First launched in 1986 in Sanrio’s official publication The Strawberry News, the event has continued to grow with the support of countless fans.

Sanrio is pleased to announce that, together with Netflix, has decided to produce a live-action Netflix series "Gudetama: An Eggcellent Adventure" featuring the character Gudetama, a lazy and unmotivated egg character, and will distribute it exclusively worldwide by the end of 2022.

This Netflix series is a road-tripping tale where Gudetama goes in search of their mother. It showcases the main characters created using the latest computer graphic technology and is designed to resonate with all the unmotivated folks.
