May 9, 2016

On the weekend of the 23 – 24 of April, Hello Kitty and Gudetama were part of the spring celebrations under the Sakura at the Jardin d’Acclimatation at Paris, in France.

The event, which took place in partnership with Japan Expo and the Comité d’echanges Franco Japonais, welcomed more than 15000 visitors over the weekend. The visitors were introduced to the Japanese culture thanks to cooking and music workshops, a cosplay parade, a martial art show and art exhibitions. Moreover, Hello Kitty, the Japanese iconic character was part of the show with Sanrio’s new character, Gudetama.

Hello Kitty costume character dressed in a traditional Japanese kimono made several appearances over the weekend being the joy of the visitors – adults and children – who came to meet her and take pictures with her. Hello Kitty also continued to spread her #onekindthing message and gave her visitors “kindness balloons”. Each balloon had a paper attached to it to have a kindness wrote on it and to be then released in the sky!

Gudetama, Sanrio’s newest family member was also an important member of the show. He was the subject of a small expressionist exhibition. Gudetama was introduced to the French public by a series of frames displayed to the public and in which Gudetama was drawn in the style of famous paintings such as “The Scream” from Munch.

The whole event was a success and Hello Kitty appearances and Gudetama debut were very well received by the audience.
